Crittenton’s Annual Spa and Beauty Day

Crittenton’s Annual Spa and Beauty Day

Crittenton’s Spa and Beauty Day is an annual tradition that is beloved by volunteers and donors alike. This year this daylong event is slated for September 7, 2019.

Our annual tradition also happens to be one of the few Crittenton events per year that is completely powered by the imagination of our dedicated supporters! From the glitz, the glam, and self-care aspect of this event our dedicated Spa and Beauty Day Committee volunteers have direct say in all aspects of this annual tradition.
The time and planning hours invested by all involved makes this event such a special volunteer experience for many as long-time business partners and local residents help create a day of empowerment and encouragement for all youth in our residential services programs.

“This yearly tradition has been established to focus on empowering our youth to believe in themselves and to live up to our mission of helping heal the wounds of abuse, neglect, and trauma our youth may have experienced,” said Martha Jasso, Crittenton’s Communications Director, and added, “Crittenton truly appreciates every volunteer and supporter who help out every September in making this wonderful day of self-care come to life.”

Crittenton’s Spa and Beauty Day is a full day of pampering, facials, hair cuts, manicures, pedicures, makeup sessions, and building relationships that all lead to the day’s main feature – the fashion show. Therefore, we are always in need of assistance of specialized volunteers who currently work in the beauty and self-care industry.

“Our spa and beauty day is not necessarily grounded in an evidence-based practice. However, the idea of taking care of yourself as a daily routine, taking a moment for yourself to breathe and de-stress, and not feeling guilty of treating yourself once in awhile are in fact the basics of mental health and wellness best practices. As a children’s mental health organization teaching these basic principles to youth who may not have been taught the importance of these kinds of emotional resilience tips is a part our mission. This event is more than just a ‘salon day’ for our organization it’s an opportunity for an entire community of child advocates to get involved and help restore our youth’s self-confidence,” said Jasso.
