Crittenton Youth Artwork Featured at Art Walk!
We are excited to have our local community support the artistic talent of Crittenton youth using the services of our Residential Treatment Center and of our Outpatient Mental Health Services Division.
The Art Walk in Downtown Fullerton runs from on October 5, 2018 through the end of the month, and will feature original paintings (mostly pastels and acrylic) exclusively created for this event. All artwork will be hosted and displayed by Vino Nostra a local establishment located at 123 E. Commonwealth Ave. Fullerton CA. 92832.
The paintings created by our youth are all part of a 6-week Expressive Arts group where they participated in activities that helped them discover who they are outside of the trauma they have experienced. These activities included the use of music, body movement, pastels, and paints. Our youth utilized art to transition from the hurt and anger they feel towards expressing the hope they have for themselves. The paintings represent what they believe in, what they want to achieve, and what has empowered them.
Themes found in the artwork include: seeing the light through the darkness, perseverance, strength, and hope. The clients were able to utilize time in their group to process the extensive trauma they have experienced throughout their lives. Through this artwork, the youth were able to start on their path to healing in order to move forward and live successfully.
We hope that you enjoy the showcase. All artwork is for sale (at various price points) and the proceeds go directly back to the young artists!
Therefore, we encourage all art lovers and youth advocates to visit Vino Nostra in Downtown Fullerton to enjoy the scenery and to support our youth.
Every purchase builds confidence and resiliency.
